Jerez and Cadiz

As usual, we got back from our road trip tired. Everything started badly when Eyquem had a non-night on the Friday night, thus we started later than we would have wanted, and with a tired driver. From then on things started getting better, even though we have to remember that some of those white villages, while good to stop to visit, are not that awesome when it comes to finding something to eat (in this case, Alcala de los Gazules, the problem was that the restaurants where not in the nice part of town) Anyways, it was nice passing by the Alcornocales park, material from which you certainly have touched before: it is one of the main wine cork producing places in the world. After a stop at the Cartuja (if you are there earlier on a Saturday you should visit the horse place, la Yeguaia de la Cartuja, origin of the Andaluz horse (el Cartujano) ) we hit Jerez. Problem was to park, but in the end we made it. Jerez seems a nice enough place, but as expected it is better to visit during the week, so as to taste Sherry wine. We arrived at our super hotel at 8:30, too late for the spa (they rescheduled us, but anyways kids can’t go in) and more importantly too late to get dinner. So we put the kids in bed, with difficulty, Gadea being super excited, and then dosed off. The next day, after breakfast, I was given the opportunity to go to the spa (nice) as Noe didn’t feel like it. We then went to Cadiz, which turns out to be a very nice place. It was still carnival week, so we sampled the mood, enjoyed the sun and the food. At 5:30 we hit the road, and stopped at Trafalgar (cap, not square) to enjoy the sight, give Eyquem some food, and let Gadea run in the sand (and see Africa). We then went on the very nice coastal road, before hitting the highway and getting back home, where the kids went much more easily to sleep (home is not as exciting as the Barcelo Costa Ballena it seems). – Photo Gallery coming soon…

Comme d’hab, on est rentré fatigué de notre fin de semaine. Les choses s’étaient mal emmanchées, Eyquem ayant connu une non-nuit le vendredi. Nous sommes donc partis plus tard que prévu, et avec un conducteur fatigué. Mais cela a été en s’améliorant, même si nous devons nous souvenir que les villages blancs, chouettes a visiter, ne le sont pas toujours pour manger (dans ce cas, Alcala de los Gazules, le problème était que les restaurants se trouvaient dans la zone moins chouette). C’était de toute manière chouette de passer par le parque des Alcornocales: vous avez certainement eu entre vos mains du matériau venant de cette zone, c’est une des zones d’où se fabriquent le plus de bouchons de liège! Après un arrêt pour voir la façade de la Cartuja (si vous êtes dans la région un samedi matin, il semble que cela vaille la peine de visiter la Yeguaia de la Cartuja, origine des chevaux Andalous, cheval que l’on appel el Cartujano en espagnol) on est arrivé à Jerez. On a du chercher un peu pour trouver un parking (les rues sont étroites) mais Jerez est un belle petite ville. Dommage que l’on était Samedi après midi, et que donc les Bodegas étaient fermées…le Xéres sera pour une autre fois! On est arrivé vers 8h30 à notre super hôtel, trop tard pour notre spa (ils avaient oubliés de nous dire que l’on avait un rendez vous pour 5h30, mais ils ont proposer de le remettre au dimanche matin) et surtout pour manger. On a donc mis les petits au lit, difficilement car Gadea était super excitée, puis on s’est endormi. Dimanche, j’ai pu profiter d’une heure de Spa, Noemí ne voulant pas, puis nous sommes partis pour Cadiz, que nous avons vraiment apprécié. C’était encore semaine de Carnaval, ce qui nous a permis de connaître l’ambiance réputée! Départ de Cadiz vers 5h30 et arrêt pour nourrir Eyquem vers 6h30 a Trafalagar (cap, non pas square). Bel endroit et Gadea en a également profité pour se dégourdir les jambes (et voir l’Afrique). On a ensuite pris la rout côtière jusqu’à atteindre l’autoroute, et à 10h30 on mettait les enfants dans leurs lits sans problème (il semble que notre appartement est nettement moins excitant que le Barcelo Costa Ballena…).- La galerie photos suivra bientôt
